Ullesthorpe members make club history

GOLF: HISTORY was made at Ullesthorpe Golf Club when the club scooped the Mixed County Foursomes Knockout Cup for the first time ever.

The team successfully negotiated ties against Market Harborough, Lingdale and Longcliffe to reach the 36 hole final against Hinckley GC.

Played at Park Hill Golf Club, Ullesthorpe drafted in ‘super sub’ Freddie MacArthur to replace David Evrall – who was on holiday – for the final with Alison Horak, Cirhan Truswell, and Chris Hunt completing the team.

After the morning 18 holes, all games were tight with both Ullesthorpe teams fighting back to end the round one up and all square respectively.

In the afternoon, Ullesthorpe took control of both ties with the first pairing of Alison and Freddie winning seven up and Cirhan and Chris 10 up.

Alison Horak said: “This was a great result for all the players and the club.

“After finishing as runners-up last year it was a great achievement to go one better and lift the trophy this year.

“Many thanks must go to all the caddies, club officials and members who supported the team through the tournament, it really does give the players a boost and can help make the difference in matches.”
