RUGBY Town fans responded superbly to a community initiative by donating a mountain of food to local charity Hope 4 Rugby.
The charity provides cooked meals and support for the homeless in the Rugby area, and the handover of the donations took place at the club’s recent home game against Basford.
Hope 4 Rugby representatives Sarah Malone and Joyce Woodings accepted the donated items on behalf of the charity, and were said to be ‘staggered’ by the quantity and quality of the collection and as a result they had to arrange extra transport to move the goods back to their Newbold Road headquarters.
The initiative was the first venture coordinated by the recently-formed Rugby Town Supporters Club, and its Chairman Neil Gurney thanked everyone for their time and effort in organising and donating to the drop-off.
