Midland Five West (South)

Coventry Technical 0 Rugby Welsh 47

WELSH were awarded a bonus point walkover when their opponents Cov Tech were unable to raise a full side and the game was played as a friendly with both sides initially playing with twelve men.

However, the Tech centre suffered a bad shoulder injury in the opening minute which further reduced the sides. Welsh found motivation difficult given the situation but ended up winning the game comfortably. They scored three tries in the first half through Jack Taylor, Matty Gray and Angus Wilson with Guy Shaw converting once.

The second half saw Welsh dominate and they completed their victory with five second half tries all converted by Wilson. Leigh College scored two tries with some powerful running whilst Taylor and Wilson both scored their second tries. Tech were becoming increasingly frustrated as the half progressed and Welsh did well to maintain their self control. The referee rightly decided to end proceedings early as neither side were going to gain any more from the game following the final try from youngster Harry Pritchard.

Despite a frustrating afternoon Welsh will be pleased to go into a short break having won their opening two league games.
