A MAN from Rugby has put plans in place to play the first wheelchair rugby game on grass in 2027.
Colin Wood, founder of the British and Irish Wheelchair Rugby Association (BWRU/L), has announced plans for a game on grass in a world first.
The BWRU/L men’s national teams will take part in a Great Britain and Ireland versus United States of America game in July 2027.
Wood said: “Players will be able to aim for regional, national and international pathway selections.
“Players can wear their country’s or counties’ jersey, represent their colours and continue writing the history of wheelchair rugby union and league on grass.”
Any adaptive athletes interested in taking part in trials ahead of the fixture should email: [email protected] or call: 0447761226370.
