RUGBY Town boss Carl Adams added two further names to his side, prior to the club’s winning start to pre-season against Racing Club Warwick.

Midfielder Dan White makes the move from UCL Premier Division rivals Desborough Town, where he established himself in the first team after coming through the club’s youth ranks, going on to make 154 appearances and firing 19 goals in four seasons.

Adams will also be hoping new forward Ryan Seal can demonstrate the same form he has displayed in previous stints at Quorn and Hinckley AFC, following a move from Stamford.

The 28-year-old can play either in the forward line, or as an attacking midfielder, and notably hit 18 goals in 23 games for MFL Premier Division side Quorn in the 2017/18 season, following a prolific couple of seasons for Hinckley – where he struck 93 goals.

Meanwhile, Sam Lockley and Lee Thomas strikes were enough to win their pre-season opener against MFL Premier Division side Racing Club Warwick at Butlin Road, despite playing the majority of the game with ten men.

New signings Kieran Fitzgerald and White featured from the start, in a game that endured a lacklustre start, with not much by the way of incident apart from Justin Marsden’s red card for two bookings.

Even with ten men, Rugby seized the initiative in the second-half and opened the scoring from the penalty spot, with Lockley dispatching the spot kick.

Lockley then forced Warwick defender Sam Castleton into giving up possession, allowing Thomas to pick out the corner of the net and seal an opening victory in pre-season.

Rugby next get set to visit Highgate United tonight, before a trip to Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday and a home fixture against Coventry City’s under-23 side on Tuesday.

The club are set to visit MFL Premier Division side Sporting Khalsa in the FA Cup extra preliminary round, following Friday’s draw.

Belper Town of the Northern Premier Division One South East will await the winners, with Rugby set to do battle with Khalsa at The Aspray Arena on Saturday August 10.
