WILLOUGHBY will be hoping to get their stop-start season into gear this weekend when the club’s first team travel to Croughton while the second team host Preston Bissett, who ironically were their last league opponents last term.
Sunday promises to be an equally busy day with the Sunday Development XI travelling to face Leek Wootton and the return of ‘Kwik Cricket @ Willoughby CC’ for another fun-packed summer programme.
The club extends a warm invitation for budding young cricketers to come along and ‘have a go’ at Kwik Cricket which provides boys and girls aged 6 to 10 years of all levels of ability and experience with an opportunity to regularly participate in a fun, introduction to cricket.
Willoughby have been running Kwik Cricket now for over 20 years and as well as offering a fun-based introduction to the game for local youngsters, many have then progressed to the hard ball game with the club’s junior and youth teams, and beyond.
‘Kwik Cricket @ Willoughby CC’ sessions are run by the club’s ECB qualified coaches, with all equipment of plastic bats and soft balls provided.
Cost is only £2.00 per session, with the first session free for new players looking to ‘have a go’ for the first time. In keeping with the family-friendly ethos of the club, parents are welcome to stay and watch, and have a go with their child after the session has finished.
