Women urged to give triathlon a go in Rugby

TRIATHLON: SWIM, bike and run once a week – that is the pledge that Rugby Triathlon Club is asking the women of Rugby in March.

In support of the Triathlon England ‘This Girl Can…Do Triathlon’ initiative, the Rugby club is making training sessions available for any ladies that want to make that pledge and start on the journey towards doing triathlon.

To kick start the pledge or keep motivation going, participants can take part in swimming sessions taking place at Rugby School Sports Centre on Sunday evenings and Monday night runs are being held at Rugby Athletic Track (next to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre).

There will also be running sessions being held at Rugby School Sports Centre on Thursday evenings and cycle rides will take place on Saturday mornings, also at Rugby School Sports Centre.

“We’re passionate about triathlon and would love to help local woman take their first steps into this incredible sport,” said Mike Smallwood, chairman of Rugby Triathlon Club.

“Our coaches are knowledgeable and friendly and can help answer all sorts of questions related to swimming, running or cycling, book your slot and get started.”

Rugby Triathlon Club has joined forces with Rugby School Sports Centre and the Breeze cycling network to deliver the Triathlon England (West Midlands) initiative. To sign up visit www.rugbytriathlon.org.uk
