Bilton Ajax win NDYAL Plate final at Sixfields

FOOTBALL: BILTON AJAX ended an unbeaten season at Sixfields at the weekend, playing in the NDYAL Plate cup Final against GLK.

The boys were keen to get started but made a slow start when the whistle for kick-off was blown.

Ajax were on the back foot and struggled to get into a rhythm as a penalty was conceded in the tenth minute.

The shot was struck straight down the middle though as Marcus Bald parried the ball away before a follow up effort hit the post – the ball was then eventually cleared.

A second penalty was then awarded in the space of minutes as a badly timed challenge from the GLK goalkeeper brought down Matthew Burges in the box.

Top goalscorer Danny Winterlich stepped up and coolly slotted home.

A more relaxed Ajax then took control of the game.

Josh Evans started marshalling the midfield and put Burges through down the right hand side.

After a quick bit of fancy footwork, he slotted the ball into the bottom left hand corner to double Ajax’s lead.

Solid work at the back saw Alfie Gibbs and Edward Blamire link up to negate any attacking play by GLK.

Captain Oliver Dunkley was commanding the defence as another Ajax attack saw Winterlich add a third goal for Ajax – and two minutes later he had his hat-trick.

The second half was a more subdued affair as Ajax smothered the game, ensuring an amazing end to an unbeaten season.

GLK managed to get a consolation goal, but Ajax deservedly won the game and shared their success with Diesel Binding who could not attend the final, but was instrumental in getting there.
