THE MAN being held on suspicion of terrorism after the Westminster car crash studied at Coventry University.

Salih Khater, who was an accountancy student between September 2017 and May this year, was arrested after a car was deliberately driven at cyclists and then a barrier at the Houses of Parliament shortly after 7.40am.

The 29-year-old British citizen, originally from Sudan, is being questioned in south London.

Police have been searching three addresses in Birmingham, including one in Sparkhill, and Nottingham as part of their investigation.

Three people were injured after the vehicle hit cyclists and pedestrians just before 7.40am.

The silver Ford Fiesta then crashed into security barriers outside the Houses of Parliament.

Detectives believe the privately-owned car was driven from Birmingham late on Monday night, arriving in London just after midnight.
