BY NOW, Christmas is fading, but there should hopefully still be plenty of time to catch what the TV schedules have in store.

Among the highlights on December 27 is Agatha Christie’s ‘Murder Is Easy’ (9pm, BBC One) – many writers and directors have tried over the years to reinvent the crime writing expert’s previous works with varying success rates. This one is billed as being billed as being ‘far cleverer than what has previously been accomplished’. The story centres on an outsider trying to identify a serial killer in a seemingly idyllic – but really sinister – village. There is also a shift in when it is set – taking it from the 1930s to 1954 in post-war Britain. This two-parter concludes at 9pm on BBC One on December 28.

Imagine (10.30pm, BBC One) looks back on the decades-long careers of Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French and their silly and brilliant satirical moments. The programme features reminders of Absolutely Fabulous, the Vicar of Dibley and countless other shows. Dawn and Jennifer share their reminisces but there are other takes on the pair from high profile people who have been part of their past, including Mel and Sue, Joanna Lumley, producer Jon Plowman and more.

If you have always wondered how Aunt Bessie produces Yorkshire Puddings, then you can do so with the first episode in the latest series of ‘Inside the Factory’ (9pm, BBC Two). Gregg Wallace’s popular programme returns, shining a light on the plant in Hull which produces a staggering 500million Yorkshire puddings-a-year. And, with some people saying they are a must accompaniment for Christmas lunch/dinner and others saying they should not be anywhere near the festive feast, this is a perfectly topical subject to kick off series eight of the show.

If you have had enough of entertainment and drama and want something a little ‘thought-provoking’, The Royal Institution Christmas Lectures: The Truth about AI (8pm, BBC Four) could be just what you are looking for. In his second lecture, Prof Mike Wooldridge reveals the massive role Artificial Intelligence is already playing in our lives. A team from DeepMind join the professor to reveal how AI is revolutionising healthcare. Hopefully, being on relatively early in the evening, you will still be able to get some sleep after watching it.
