RUGBY Town Juniors held their 19th annual Football Festival at their Kilsy Lane home last weekend and the hosts put in a string of positives performances across the day.

Over 2,000 people visited the festival which provided youngsters with a taste of competition football and the opportunity to continue their development in the sport.

Organised with the help of Rugby-based Strachan Football Foundation, the festival kicked off with 18 under-7 micro teams competing in matches against each other and there were strong performances from the Rugby Town Tigers and FC Santos, but all players went home with a medal.

In the afternoon no fewer than 24 teams from under-7 level went up against each other and once again Rugby Town Juniors lead the way with some very powerful play following a tremendous season.

This Saturday will see the under-9s and under-10s compete and the following day the under-11 do battle.

The following week the adult AEI Cup takes place and this year’s competition is looking to be bigger and better than ever before with 24 teams set to compete. Check out the Rugby Town JFC Facebook page at 2pm this Friday for the live draw.
